Le Emperor

Le Hoan was the founding Emperor of the Former Le Dynasty of Dai Co Viet, ruled Dai Co Viet for 24 years in Hoa Lu near Tam Coc Ninh Binh. He is one of 14 typical heroes of the Vietnamese nation.

When he was young, he worked as a mandarin for the Dinh Dynasty under Dinh Tien Hoang, to the position of Thap Dao General. In 979 at Hoa Lư capital near Tam Coc Ninh Binh, the mandarin Do Thich killed King Dinh Tien Hoang and his son Dinh Lien, the second son Dinh Toan succeeded to the throne at the age of 6, Le Dai Hanh became the Regent, claiming to be the Vice King, holding great power at the court. The Song Dynasty used Le Dai Hanh’s autocratic excuse to send troops to invade Dai Co Viet

Faced with that situation, General Pham Cu Lang brought his soldiers into the palace as mutinies, forcing the Queen Mother Duong to hand over the dragon gate to Vice King Le Hoan. After ascending the throne, Le Hoan personally defeated the Song army, slashed General Hau Nhan Bao, captured General Quach Quan Bien, and Trieu Phung Huan brought it back to Hoa Lu near Tam Coc Ninh Binh, helping Dai Co Viet to be peaceful and preserve the monopoly establishment of the country.
