As one of the four core areas of the Trang An World Heritage Complex near Tam Coc Ninh Binh, the Hoa Lu Ancient Capital relic site is a special destination imbued with national cultural and historical values. Today, Hoa Lu has the quiet look of time, but is still full of majesty, reminiscent of a golden age. Hoa Lu ancient capital thousands of years ago was a magnificent imperial capital. This was once the place where the career of building and defending the country of three dynasties, the Dinh – Early Le dynasties and the beginning of the Ly dynasty, began.

Perhaps because of the surrounding mountainous terrain, the interwoven rivers and streams have become a solid natural wall, helping to protect the imperial capital from invaders. Coming to the ancient capital, visitors will have the opportunity to admire two temple relics of King Dinh Tien Hoang and King Le Dai Hanh, two symbolic works bearing many traces of traditional Vietnamese architecture.

King Dinh’s temple

King Dinh’s temple was built according to the structure “Noi Cong, Ngoai Quoc”, an architectural style commonly seen in many ancient Vietnamese works. The most prominent feature at King Dinh temple near Tam Coc Ninh Binh is the Dragon Sieve at the Dragon Yard location, carved from monolithic green stone with exquisite carvings. In addition, King Dinh temple is also decorated with many images of dragons, clouds, fairies, flowers… on wooden and stone pillars like a vivid picture showing the talent and ingenuity of 17th century artisans. Worshiping King Le attracts tourists by folk wood carving art with lotus flowers, chrysanthemums, stylized dragons… on the Huong Truong plaques.

This is a typical carving style of the Later Le Dynasty, when the wood carving talent of Vietnamese artisans reached a level of virtuosity. During the journey to explore the ancient capital of Hoa Lu near Tam Coc Ninh Binh, tourists also have the opportunity to visit Trang An landscape, Bai Dinh pagoda, Thien Ton cave…, each landscape has its own unique characteristics. For content creator Trieu Dinh Nam (Zoomations), the ancient capital is something even more special, shown through each realistic and vivid footage in the video clip “Ninh Binh is Awesome”. There, every scene and every character appears as if it takes viewers to see natural wonders, heroic historical evidence and the gentle, simple people
