After about 100km, the first destination the group visited was the famous Trang An tourist area near Tam Coc Ninh Binh. Different from the cold morning in Hanoi. As soon as we got off the bus, we were overwhelmed with the bustling scene of tourists from all over coming to admire this charming landscape. With a tour ticket price of 250,000 VND/person, we joined the stream of people getting off the blue boats waiting on Sao Khe river. Right at the boat wharf, the bustling scene of voices and laughter from both tourists and boatmen resonates throughout the quiet winter sky of Trang An.

Trang An is an eco-tourism area

Trang An is an eco-tourism area located in the World Cultural and Natural Heritage Complex recognized by UNESCO in 2014, including 3 adjacent areas: Hoa Lu Ancient Capital Relics, Trang An Scenic Area – Tam Coc – Bich Dong and Hoa Lu Special Use Primeval Forest. With a special position surrounded by many majestic limestone mountains and a rich ecosystem, since the 10th century, Trang An was chosen by King Dinh Tien Hoang as the southern citadel to protect the capital Hoa Lu near Tam Coc Ninh Binh.

The journey that day we chose was route 1, going through 9 caves and 3 spiritual places for 3 hours. Departing from the central boat wharf, the boat turns, gently gliding on the clear water surface, taking the whole group on a trip through Trinh temple, Dia Linh cave, Dark cave, Sang cave, Nau Ruou cave… Each cave is attached with engaging stories. I still remember the story the boat driver told about Ba Giot cave.

Legend has it that anyone

Legend has it that anyone who passes through Ba Giot cave and receives three drops of water from stalactites into the palm of their hand will be lucky in life and happy in love. Maybe that’s why we were so eager to open our palms to catch the water drops from the moment we first entered the cave. But unfortunately, I could only catch one drop. After passing through the caves and Tran temple near Tam Coc Ninh Binh, the boat docks at Phu Khong – a place to worship Dinh Dynasty mandarins.

Here, you can light a stick of incense to pay your respects to the ancestors of the past and listen to anecdotes containing great historical value. Next to Khong, there is also Bao Hieu pagoda, which is always full of incense. From Phu Khong, our group went to Khong cave, Tran cave and Quy Hau cave to finish the tour.
