Trinh Tu

Trinh Tu (924 – 979) was one of the founding fathers of the Dinh dynasty, having helped Dinh Tien Hoang to defeat and end the rebellion of 12 10th century warlords in Vietnamese history. In 968, Dinh Bo Linh defeated the warlords and ascended the throne in Hoa Lu near Tam Coc Ninh Binh. He and Prince Dinh Lien were sent by the court to deal with the Song Dynasty. Political history as well as folk poetry often refer to the “Four Pillars of Bac, Dien, Co, Tu” meaning the four pillars of the Dinh dynasty, namely Nguyen Bac, Dinh Dien, Luu Co and Trinh Tu. The four pillars were the core to help King Dinh defeat the army and unify the country. After the king died, they tried their best to win the throne for the old owner, the job was not successful and they were harmed. Trinh Tu built a temple in his hometown in Lien Son  near Tam Coc Ninh Binh and many other places to worship him and the four pillars of the Dinh dynasty.
